Bio

I began my career as a freelance writer in 2008, commissioned by print publications such as Bafta's Academy magazine, Fujifilm's Exposure and the British Cinematographer, to compose articles on the subject of filmmaking from the perspective of members of the camera and lighting departments, within which I was working at the time.

After leaving the film industry in 2010, I continued to write casually: local news, short fiction and profiles, before picking up commissioned work once again, reporting on filmmaking for Cinematography World, from 2020 to the present.

As 2026 finds its stride, I am conducting a personal experiment: what happens if the interviewing, researching, fact checking and composition skills I have developed over the last eighteen years are allowed to run alongside the wilder instinct to investigate, unearth and chase a story, which has been kept restrained in the interests of technical writing?

Tentatively, I am trying out the title of citizen journalist.
